Application Information

Each spring (shortly after March 21st), those on our mailing list will be mailed course information, including a schedule of class dates/locations, prices and an enrollment application. Having your name on the Rider-Ed mailing list doesn't guarantee you will be able to enroll in a class, due to a limited number of spaces.

To have your name added to our mailing list, contact us either by phone or email between January 1st and March 21st.

To be considered for a class with MREM you must mail in an application or submit an application online!

Other Important Information

Attendance: Students must attend all sessions and complete all requirements set forth by the Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) in order to obtain a completion card. Successful completion of the written test and skill evaluation qualifies the beginner student for a waiver of the State's road test

Physical ability:
Great physical strength is not necessary for the beginner course, but a good sense of balance and coordination are essential! If you are unable to ride a bicycle, you may have a great deal of difficulty learning to ride a motorcycle. For the protection of all concerned, we reserve the fight to suspend anyone from riding activities if, in our opinion, they can't control a motorcycle.

Discounts: Members of the American Motorcyclist Association (800-AMA-JOIN), the Motorcycle Riders Foundation (207-865-9389) and United Bikers of Maine (888-229-9826), are given a $15.00 discount on the Beginner Course or the Experienced Course. To take advantage of the discount, please join prior to enrollment, proof of membership will be required with your tuition payment.

Alternatives: Many driving schools offer the eight hour (classroom only) permit course, an alternative to the hands-on-course. To find a local provider of the permit course, look in the yellow pages under 'driving instruction' or 'motorcycle instruction' or ask us for a referral.
